Tony Kettle is part of the Free Radical Research Group at The University of Otago in Christchurch’s School of Medicine. He is investigating how white blood cells use free radicals to fight infection by creating a form of chlorine bleach inside our bodies. Amongst other things, this research explains why snot is green.
